Tap Into Your Inner Healing

Hey Friends,

The last few weeks have challenged me, and required me to go within to find inner peace and healing.

The world is in chaos, literally. When I look at my social media I see the pain. When I speak to friends and family, I hear about traumatic incidents involving my loved ones and I feel pain!

So it would be so easy to let it consume me, and revert back into old patterns that no longer serve me.

During my health and wellness journey, I have learnt that there will always be situations that arise, where you feel intense emotions and that is okay.

But our emotions are linked to our immune system and have the ability to compromise it's functionality, therefore I refuse to live in autopilot.

Did you know that around 95% of our behavior runs on autopilot?

Yes, we have created a narrative, a way that we typically go about things without giving it much thought. Our neural networks are the culprits! They have devised simple shortcuts for us to function by developing brain default signals that cause us to revert and relapse into old familiar patterns.

I choose to have executive control over my brain with my actions, willpower, thoughts and decisions. I practice the art of feeling, releasing and letting go!

In no way am I implying to disregard or dismiss reality, I allow myself to feel in the moment but not stay stuck there.

Personally, I have found that going for walks alone helps me to think and breathe. I also like to sit in the grass, meditate and pray. I keep a gratitude journal, where I write daily things that I can be grateful for as a reminder that even though pain is real, so is healing and there is so much in life to be grateful for!

Be patient with yourself, it takes time to retrain your brain, everytime you take a deliberate new action you stimulate neuroplasticity, strengthening your newly sprouted neurons.

I encourage you to find mindful practices that work best for you, here are a few examples to get you started:

  • Any exercise that gets you moving, blood pumping, less distracted, feeling strong and capable.

  • Breathing techniques

  • Prayer

  • Meditation

  • Journaling

  • Mindful Eating

  • Positive Thoughts and Affirmations

I know a lot of people are hurting right now and I get it. So start doing your inner work to be equipped for the work that must be done externally!
